December 11: Healing and Forgiveness...
"Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it." – Mark Twain
Dear Readers,
Sofia trudged through the snowy forest, the cold air biting at her cheeks. She clutched a small wooden box in her gloved hands, its contents a secret she’d carried for months. Inside was a letter she had written not to anyone else, but to herself.
The letter contained everything she had wanted to say to the person who had hurt her the most. Words of anger, betrayal, and grief spilled onto the pages. But in the end, she had written the hardest words of all: I forgive you.
Reaching a clearing, Sofia knelt by a young pine tree. She dug a small hole in the frozen earth and placed the box inside. As she covered it with soil, tears streamed down her face, not from sadness, but from release.
“I forgive you,” she whispered into the winter air. “And I forgive myself.”
As she stood, a sense of lightness enveloped her. The forest seemed quieter, more peaceful, as though it too had exhaled a long-held breath. Sofia walked home, leaving her pain buried in the snow.
God Bless Us All…
